Lego Creator Fountain (40221) Review

Lego released the Creator Fountain (40221) set on 1st June 2016. It is a free set as part of a promotion throughout June 2016. It has a piece count of 105 and comes with two minifigures. To get this set free you have to make a purchase of £50 or more with Lego, either online or in-store. The box contains two unnumbered bags and the instruction booklet.
Minifigures

So to start off we get to build the female Minifigure. She is quite a generic looking minifigure and poses Lego's simple smiley faced head. Her torso is red and has a striped jacket print along with a press badge. She does have back printing on her torso. Her legs are plain black. She comes with a white 2x2 printed 'The Lego News' newspaper tile and a cookie. They also give us an extra cookie in with the spare pieces!
Our next minifigure is the statue itself. It is technically a monochrome minifigure which is a light blueish grey colour. I love this minifigure because he appears to be some kind of golden winged warrior. He comes with a helmet, beard and sword and has a transparent white back piece with two studs for the clips which hold the metallic warm gold wings. The statue does come with extra bits which can be used to change it into a female statue that holds a flag. She even has her own hair piece. We also get an extra sword in this set as a spare! Which is always a fantastic plus side for me especially as I'm always looking to expand my Medieval Lego display.
We also get this cool little dog. He isn't exclusive to this set but he is cute!
Building

To start with we just get to build this amber yellow bicycle along with the minifigures. This is a pretty new colour that I believe has only appeared this year. The tyres come already attached to the transparent wheels so we just have to click them into the frame. The rear one was a little tricky to get in. As always with Lego, the wheels spin very smoothly indeed!
Whilst we get to build the fountain first in the instructions, I want to save the best till last. So let's first focus on the benches. They are virtually identical other than the decoration next to them. The benches themselves are a dark earth blue in colour. Next to one of them is a six stem flower stalk in a lime green pot with lavender and bright reddish violet flower heads. Next to the other bench is a rubbish bin, which has four 1x2 dark red radiator grille pieces surrounding a black 1x1 brick with four studs on each side.
Last and definitely not least we get to build the main part of the set. The fountain! It's a fair sized circular structure (8x8 studs) that has a good amount of detail to it. There are four awesome looking metallic warm gold frogs looking into the center of the statue. Inside is a 6x6 medium azur coloured plate which is the 'water'. To portray water shooting up from the fountain there are four transparent light blue crystals with some little bulb shaped pieces. Then of course in the middle is the fantastic looking statue minifigure standing tall on top of an Ionic column.
The Verdict

As we come to the end of the review for this fantastic set I have to say I am very pleased with it. The Lego Creator Fountain (40221) set effectively uses it's low piece count to create a beautiful little set. For free this is amazing, I would have happily paid £10 for this set. I will be using this set in my City MOC when I get around to building it. It will go really nice with the Lego City Fun in the Park - City People Pack (60134) despite this being a creator set and the Park being a City set. The City Fun in the Park set is next on my list to review! Which arrived with this Fountain set yesterday. I don't know how long throughout June 2016 that this Fountain set will be available for. But it's a set that I, as an avid Lego collector did not want to miss out on!
